We meet in rented space at Flagg Road United Church of Christ, located on 134 Flagg Road, West Hartford, unless otherwise specified.

Our services are fragrance free; please refrain from using scented hair spray, lotion, soap, deodorant, shampoo, and perfume, for the benefit of chemically sensitive participants.

Welcome Shabbat Service
Our regular Shabbat morning service, especially designed to welcome people new to P’nai Or, followed by a vegetarian pot luck lunch. We look forward to meeting new friends, and renewing connections with old friends.

3-5 pm
Empowering your Jewish Parenting
Reb Andrea will teach this two part class for parents, about home and family rituals, and transmitting ethics and values. She will emphasize Jewish sources and provide practical ideas for strengthening the family. We will meet at Jewish Community Center Library. Jewish activities for children will be provided. $20 for nonmembers.

First Day of Rosh Hashanah
Service followed by a Kiddush of challah, apples, and honey.
Wednesday, Oct 1:
10 am - 1 p.m.
Second Day of Rosh Hashanah
A walk at the reservoir, to discuss the Torah portion, reflect on and share about teshuvah - turning back to the path that connects us with God, and blow the shofar. Meet at the back parking lot of the reservoir on Farmington Ave in West Hartford with comfortable shoes, water, snacks, or lunch (as you wish).

Shabbat service (Shabbat Shuvah), followed by kiddush and a potluck lunch.
Wednesday, Oct 8
6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Kol Nidre
We’ll gather at 5:45 and begin the service promptly at 6:00 pm
Thursday, Oct 9
9:30 a.m.
Yom Kippur service (begins with a half hour of meditation)
Children's service 11:00
Minchah and Neilah, afternoon and closing services, 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Followed by a potluck break fast
It is a powerful experience to both begin and end the day in community prayer, so we invite you to return for the closing services. Westmoor Park, near the church, has nature trails, for walking or meditation during the afternoon break. If you are traveling from out of town, we can arrange for you to visit a member’s home for some afternoon rest.

Simchat Torah
With great festivity, we will sing and dance with the Torah, and read from its end and beginning. This is one of the really fun holidays, and features an opportunity to see the Torah scroll in its entirety.
