Families & Children
We welcome families with young children to our services and to our
community. Children are especially invited to participate in the closing portion of our Shabbat services. Our services include both active times (singing, dancing, group
prayer) and quieter times
(meditation, silent prayer, rabbi's teachings). Please offer your child
quiet toys (books, puzzles, stickers) during the quiet times. We also
provide babysitting in a large, well-equipped play space downstairs if you
prefer that option.
P'nai Or families enjoy the opportunity to
participate in lively Purim, Chanukah, and Simchat Torah celebrations. In
addition, we meet a few times each year for a parent discussion group with
Rabbi Andrea.
Although
P'nai Or does not provide formal religious education, we can offer
families resources and guidance about home-based Jewish education. Rabbi
Andrea is available for bar/bat mitzvah preparation.
In addition, Kehilat
Chaverim, a havurah in West Hartford, operates a K-7 Sunday school, which
is open to non-members. For more information, go to their website: http://www.kehilatchaverim.org/sunday_school.html |

“P'nai
Or is a Jewish community of traditional and non-traditional families,
where no one is excluded, where people come together to pray, learn,
have fun, share lives, support each other, and where Judaism is more
accessible through both contemplative and traditional practices.”
